The State Emergency Operations Center has demobilized.  The Pueblo County incident has been neutralized and there are no further emergencies.

News Conference Scheduled for Pueblo County Chemical Events

Pueblo, Colo. ­ In response to media and public information needs, the Pueblo Community Joint Information
Center will host a news conference today.

  • WHEN: 7 p.m.
  • WHERE: Emergency Services Center, 101 W. 10th St.
  • WHO: Pueblo Chemical Depot Commander Lt. Col. Michael S. Quinn; Jody Carrillo, Pueblo City ­County Health Department; Pueblo County Sheriff Kirk M. Taylor; Pueblo City Fire Incident Commander Captain Rick Potter
  • TOPIC: This is a joint press conference to discuss the two chemical incidents that resulted in a declaration of emergency in Pueblo County this afternoon. In addition to the parties listed above, the spokespersons from other agencies involved in today’s response and victim care will be on hand to answer questions.

Pueblo Chemical Depot Hazardous Materials Incident

Pueblo, Colo. ­ Two employees of the Pueblo Chemical Depot are being treated at the medical clinic on site, not as a result of the chemical accident.

At approximately 3:20 p.m., the Depot reported an accident in the chemical storage area during routine chemical operations.

Directions to the Pueblo County Joint Information Center: from Interstate 25, take Exit 99B ramp right for 13th St, Turn right onto West 13th St, Turn left onto Santa Fe Ave, Turn right onto West 9 th. EXERCISE: Governor Approves State Disaster Declaration for Pueblo County

Governor Hickenlooper has verbally approved a state disaster declaration for Pueblo County today.  Pueblo County declared a local disaster declaration following two incidents in the county.
