EXERCISE Want to Help Winter Wonderland Disaster?

Want to help those affected by the Winter Wonderful Disaster?

One of the most important ways to help is by making a monetary donation.
Please note: Items not needed may go to waste and get in the way of relief efforts.

Individuals who want to help are also asked to make a monetary donation to voluntary organizations.
If you do make a material donation, donate ONLY items specifically requested by authorities and bring them to official designated collection centers

Material donations are not being accepted through the site at this time

Used clothing is generally NOT needed following a disaster. Only donate if specifically requested

The HelpColoradoNow website will provide updates on material donations needed following a specific disaster

Meal donations from restaurants (no home cooked meals please) may be needed for some local personnel and organizations supporting response efforts. Restaurants wanting to donate meals should check this site following a disaster for information on how to donate (never bring food to a site unless it is requested)

Donations for VACANT rental properties and vacation homes can be listed through Colorado Housing Search. Please note donated rooms in homes can NOT be accepted.

Volunteers

Do not go to the scene of a disaster.

The arrival of unexpected volunteers will interfere with response efforts

Stay safe by volunteering with a reputable agency

Volunteers will be needed most during the long-term recovery phase, which will last month/years
For a list of agencies that respond to disasters in Colorado and information on volunteer needs for recovery, go to:www.ColoradoVOAD.org

You can also enter your information HERE to receive periodic updates on disaster response and recovery volunteer opportunities in Colorado.

Please affiliate with a relief agency (ideally before a disaster strikes!) to ensure you have the needed training and guidance to most effectively help those affected by disasters

Go to HelpColoradoNow mailing list for monthly updates (more frequent during active disasters) on volunteer opportunities related to response and recovery efforts, enter your information below.

EXERCISE: State Emergency Operations Center Activated for Blizzard Support

The State Emergency Operations Center (EOC) activated at a Level III at 8 a.m. to support local jurisdictions due to statewide blizzard conditions.

The State EOC establishes and maintains situational awareness through direct contact with local jurisdictions and other response agencies. The State is prepared to provide resources to local jurisdictions upon request through proper process in an effort to conduct a coordinated State -level response.  We are prepared to initiate State - level response for incidents or events outside of impacted areas and continues to monitor weather conditions across the State / FEMA Region.

Level III

The State EOC will be initially staffed using available DHSEM personnel for business hours only. Select state agencies (for example: CDPHE, CDPS, DMVA, CDOT) are notified they may be needed to report to the State EOC.
