EXERCISE: Colorado State Emergency Operations Center Activated to Support Pueblo County

The Colorado State Emergency Operations Center is activated to support Pueblo County.  Pueblo County is currently providing support to Las Animas County following a massive earthquake.  Pueblo is also supporting an emergency at the Pueblo Chemical Depot.  The State EOC transitioned to Level I operations just before 10 a.m. on May 8, 2019.

Gov. Polis verbally declared a state emergency at 11:10 a.m. due to events in Pueblo County and Trinidad earthquake.  This declaration allows the state to use disaster emergency funding and access the resource mobilization process.

Pueblo Information Updates and Resources

As of 9:15 am there has been an emergency at the Pueblo Chemical Depot. The areas north and northwest of the Pueblo Chemical Depot will have traffic blocks. Please avoid the area.

The areas north and northwest (N1 and NW1) are advised to evacuate. Please travel away from the Pueblo Chemical Depot. Transportation Tech Center please shelter in place. #PCDX19

State Emergency Operations Center (SEOC) Status
Level 2: Supporting planning and mitigation efforts in Hinsdale County due to potential flooding issues. Also supporting response and recovery for incidents across the state.

NOTE: The State EOC will also be participating in the annual Chemical Stockpile Emergency Preparedness Program exercise Wednesday.
